Falmouth homes tend to be big, set back in the trees, with a lot of glass facing Casco Bay. That combination, mature trees overhead and salt air off the water, is hard on windows, and it’s most of what we clean out in the Foreside.
Different windows need different tools, so we bring all of it. Reachable and interior glass gets the hand treatment, strip washer, squeegee pulled clean, corners detailed, and when something’s really stuck on, baked-on overspray, bird mess, or hard-water marks, we use #0000 steel wool, the finest grade made, to work it off without scratching. For the high stuff we run a water-fed pole on purified water, filtered through reverse osmosis and a deionizing resin so there are zero minerals left to spot the glass as it air-dries.
Tree cover drops sap and pollen, and the bay air leaves salt film, so the glass here needs more than an occasional wipe. Twice a year keeps it right, and we handle inside, outside, and the screens.
